About the Fraternity

Mission Statement:

Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity creates physicians of integrity with a life-long commitment to our guiding principles of philanthropy, deity, and education through fellowship, service, mentoring, and formal training in leadership, science, and ethics.

Founded in 1904 by Aaron Brown at Cornell University, Phi Delta Epsilon has been helping medical students, regardless of their background, pursue their dream of becoming a doctor. In 1994, the first premedical chapter was founded at Binghamton University in New York, allowing premedical students to utilize the resources used by medical students for decades. Currently, the fraternity consists of 97 medical chapters and 58 premedical chapters. Founded in 2009, the OH Epsilon Chapter at The University of Akron has helped many premedical students succeed in their goals and advance into medical school. We hold meetings every week, in addition to several volunteer and service events, medical school visits, speakers, and fundraisers. All of the money raised by the OH Epsilon Chapter is donated to Akron Children's Hospital, a Children's Miracle Network Hospital. On campus, our fraternity advisor is Dr. Rolando Ramirez in the Biology department.
